A staff songwriter at Sony/Tree, then Columbia Records alongside Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette and The Highwaymen, then a move to Warner Bros. and a shift from the honky-tonk sounds of Music Row to the acoustic landscapes of Americana — where he was called a “singer/songwriter of the finest mold.”
